Farmers' Market Open Saturday May 1 and every Saturday through November 6, 2010!


A Hamburg community tradition for over thirty years, the Hamburg Farmers' Market will run Saturdays (rain or shine) through November 6, 2010 from 7:30 AM - 1 PM in the Village of Hamburg Municipal Parking Lot. Shop the market for seasonal delicious and nutritious fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, breakfast burritos, frozen corn fed beef, home-made pierogies, pastas, fresh sauce and pesto, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies, cheese and cheesecakes, baked goods, home-made fudge, spices, rubs and teas, fresh & dried flowers including unique perennial hand-cut flowers by the stem or arrangement, plants and shrubs, fruit and veggie plants, beeswax candles, hand-made goat milk soaps and lotions and so much more. Also, by visiting our weekly featured non-profit organizations, that will be on site with updates and general information, you can learn about the variety of needs and how to give back to your community.

Agriculture is very important to New York State. The New York State farm economy gained over 3.1 Billion from Agricultural production in 2003. Approximately 37,000 farmers use 7.65 million acres to produce a very diverse array of food products. Thats around 25% of the land of New York State! Some of the items in which New York State ranks high nationally in production are:

  • Cabbage - 2nd in Nation
  • Dairy Products - 3rd in Nation
  • Grapes - 3rd in Nation
  • Maple Syrup - 3rd in Nation
  • Strawberries - 3rd in Nation
  • Pears - 4th in Nation
  • Snap Beans - 4th in Nation
  • Tart Cherries - 5th in Nation
  • Sweet Corn - 6th in Nation
  • Onions - 8th in Nation

New York State is among the top 5 states in production of apples, pears, strawberries, grapes, tart cherries, carrots, cauliflower, celery, onions, sweet corn, apple cider, grape juice, maple syrup and wine. European settlers brought apple seeds to NYS in the 1600's. Hard apple cider was a popular drink for colonists who used dried apples as a staple food. New York adopted the apple as its state fruit in 1976.
